Publication Design

This project was inspired by Hanne Darboven, a German born conceptual artist best known for her minimalistic work covered in her handwritten numeric code. I wrote a letter to my great-grandfather, Staff Sergeant Julius H. Pryor. The letter was inspired by a collection of images I discovered from his tenure in the U.S. Army. Throughout the project, I have transcribed excerpts of the letter into a cipher I developed to mimic the use of numbers throughout Hanne Darboven's work. This project involved designing a published book, creating two 24in x 36 in print, and designing and wood burning two custom frames.
